I like the looks of it so far. As proposed it cleans up the problems with the existing policy, while giving the local associations the flexability they need. I agree with others that it's a good start!

Hi Jack!  I was referring to the current verbiage.......the proposed amendments look good to me....the important thing is that we provide the best quality officiating for EVERY game we cover, but especially we need to send quality to the state tournaments.  I know that there are many qualified officials who have never had an opportunity to work the state tournaments, but that's just the way this world works.  Once again, I don't believe that any open minded administrator/coach at any level would have just reasons to object to the proposed changes.   There will always be official who object to the selection process.  Many of us feel "dissed" because we are not selected, but reality says, "The cream always rises....."   I have observed many play-off and tournament games, and generally feel that we have done pretty well in the selection process.

The new suggested changes are good.  Coupled with the Certifications requirement, we need to qualify as many officials as possible. s/Mac Heitzhausen

Jack:  I would propose that the greatest difference in officiating the sport of football exists between 1A and all of the other classifications.  There are no rule differences between 2A-6A but there are differences in the rules of 1A.  I would suggest that this be considered when assigning officials to this classification.  You could easily have an official doing a playoff or championship game who hadn't even done an 8 man game all season.  This would be a disservice to the schools involved.
